Sunny … Thank you for …
Without shadow we have no depth… I know … way more deeper than you were expecting…
Spirograph Lovers … anyone?
Lost but Likely Forgotten
I just one Question to the owner… Why at the end of July?
Hats of to these owners…
This poor fellow lasted several days before rescue…
Strange place to stop and read and then walk away…
This may become a TikTok trend…
A Feast of Fire
Sometimes the photos don’t do justice to an event such as this… Well done Pat, Jim and the whole team that made this event magical… and to the two beautiful Beyoncé dancers who made the weekend magical… you know who you are… I married one!!!
A Solar Eclipse of the Heart
We got a whole 98% Solar Eclipse this evening … I will be looking up from a wooden box for the next one in 2090… Hope you have no FFFNNN clouds!!!!
Can you tell what it is yet…
I think I will leave you guessing…
… decided to give you an easy one too… your are most welcome
Caught in the Act
Funny the things that can stick out in your mind… If you can read this in the voice of Sir David Attenborough…
“The mating courtship has begun for the illusive urban traffic cone. The male cone watches his intended mate from the shadows. The female cone waits in the sunlight knowing her intended is watching, slowly, she lures him in.”
Yep… I know what you are thinking… in broad daylight behind a tree… suit you sir… suit you… if you are under 18 looking at this there is nothing to see… move along…
This old guy had some stories to tell… which I cannot repeat for I too was traumatised after listening…
… some say this fellow is still behind bars… he tried to conceal the location of the victim before getting caught… you need to look closer at the heading picture… its graphic…
Clarkson’s Farm - Irish Edition
Hard to make Hay when the sun don’t shine… but we do it none the less…
I have always wondered who tells the birds the tractors are coming… and that dinners ready…
For my single colour purist… you know who you are…
¡Viva España
This is a strange one for any photographer… do we bring the camera on holidays or is it family time… can we sneak off… do we want to or do we sit by the pool in walrus mode…
The calmness of the Mediterranean Sea and the lack of any real tidal forces always amazes me. Coming from Ireland we can have miles of shoreline exposed every tide.
Land of the Elephants… just another same style tree photo you all have come to say ‘Huh… I don’t get it..’ just in a different country…
For some reason I took quite the shine to these lights… sorry… not sorry
The Real Cone Heads
Everywhere I go these days … which is ironic considering I do the same walk twice a day… I see construction safety cones…
These are from the same spot. I stood there for a good hour wondering which way I was to go…
The Shadows
The sun becomes a very strong source of light when the clouds don’t get in the way… That can be another texture to your photography.
Using the harsh light to add drama and I know I can hear a thousand screams, but I don’t care if I have no detail in the shadows… I will be judged in the afterlife to this egregious crime…
It’s a Colourful Life…
I have been getting some concern recently from some friends on my constant need to shoot Black & White. I have changed the names to keep their identities a secret. Jack and Phil… for easy reference to both I will use the first two letter and the last two letters of their names… JAIL.
Do you prefer Jail… they make a valid point but I really do like Black and White and as of yet I have not seen them with a camera.
Does the colour add or subtract from this shot…
Are they right… You decide… JAIL or Not to JAIL… I am staying out of JAIL in every sense of the word as long as I can…
Sorry Gentlemen… My life is devoid of Colour… You made me like this.
Man Down
I find it fitting that in the old grave yard this sign gave its life to warn others…
I would like to thank this man who obviously was trying to calm his dog due to the stress of these hay carcasses spread out across the porch fields awaiting transport to a better place, for wearing a shirt that connected the sky colour to the foreground… this was not planned… I had asked him to wear a pink shirt.
Turbo … The Photo
As I walked past a garden wall i noticed this guy taking a break… Sometimes it’s good to take a break.. slow down from the chaos of daily life.
to just stand and watch everyone and everything shoot past you… Stand proud and let them look at your majestic being… most look away when I stand proud… I can’t blame them…
As I start my mental decline into old age I see a very rare tree Wookie or Ent depending on your sci-fi / fantasy obsession emerge from the river bank… almost…
I call this one My Body
That Time of the Year
Its Holiday time again… as I jet off to see the bright yellow hot thing in the sky… Will there be a few pics taken.. who knows… most of the time I will be sprawled across a chair in melt mode… so enjoy these totally what the fcuk is that images… with a little lost and found…
Pushing up Daisies
There are many spots along the walk that give me an opportunity to shoot flowers and thanks to the Fuji cameras, I don’t have to bring an additional macro lens with me… the wind how ever is my nemesis as anyone trying to shoot a flower in the open will tell is better kept to a controller environment…
Colour for me has a place in Photography … but it needs to scream use me in my natural colour and also an added bonus… I please the black & white non lovers…
An old studio trick was to use Glycerine and water to make a flower more interesting to the eye… I just wait these days for the rain to stop…
Stormsy
I has not been our usual start to the summer. Its been very unsettled and as per the Irish saying we have gotten four seasons in a single day….. There are places I have walked passed or on this occasion driven past that I have wanted to photograph but alas as most photographers know it is a waiting game. This only took 26 years…
To me its the changeable sky that plays the most important part in my images of Trims landscape… as the Ruins very rarely change or move somewhere else…
Just A little Bit Closer
IF you have been in the photo realm you know we tend to choose a focal length that suits us. Sometimes we get stuck on a lens… Over the last few months I would shoot each walk on a specific lens. 35mm, 50mm, 85mm and 90mm.
Each of these make you see in a different way. If you choose one and go out it makes you think… feel and focus on what might inspire you. There are times when you see a shot and wish you had one of the other lenses with you… Its ok to let it pass… maybe next time… but sometimes I see shots in a telephoto way.
I have seen shots I would like to take at longer focal lengths… 100mm, 200mm or 300mm but it is always hard to do these handheld with a dog pulling your arm to sniff the next tree to piss on… but I was bold and bought a 70 to 300 f4 to 5.6 lens (technobabble) . A relatively cheap Zoom for my fuji and it did go against my core f1.2 snobbery but I want to be free to walk and shoot. No tripod or large Lens to way me down and so I present to you… My dog walking shot from a far away…
Birds of a Lost Feather
Growing up it always amazes me how kids found feathers magical. It was like we could use them to fly… most of the kids I grew up with had a Rock or Feather collection… we didn’t have an iPhone back then. Just or imagination…
As I walked in feather mode I forgot the camera was set to a fixed shutter speed so it over exposed the shot as i looked through the viewfinder… It is strange but for some reason these trees gave me the impression of more feathers or I might be losing it… you decide..
In macro news we had rain and sun … in Ireland in the same day … who knew…
Oh Deer a New Arrival
A new Sculpture has arrived in the small memorial park. I did get into a bit of trouble saying to some friends a new horse was being built… I got ridiculed by them as I didnt know a Horse from a buck… for the record they guys where installing at the time and there were no fecking antlers on it at the time!!! There are now…
In its natural habitat the almost extinct wood bone buck stands waiting for a mate…
I have a feeling he will be waiting a while… but a few others stand and wait…
The lone Heroin Heron stand waiting for a buyer to swim by…
All the spring kids get there first taste of freedom…
Couple of youngins hang out… having a nibble and chatting about all thing sheepish… before getting back to business.
As as aways …

You never know what’s up for grabs when you go to a car boot sale … much like my photography… take what you like and leave the rest with the seller…
